Greer Station to Host Chili Cook-off

The Greer Station Chili Cook-off, a community-wide event, will be held Thursday, November 8 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Trade Street in downtown Greer. The Greer Station Association, celebrating its fifteenth year, is organizing the competition.

 

The event is open to the public and attendees will have the option of purchasing food tickets to taste the competitors’ chili - $1 per tasting or $3 per bowl. There will be live music from the Trapfire Brothers and La Bouteille Wine and Beer Boutique will have a beer and wine available for purchase. The public is encouraged to bring canned food donations for Rivals for Relief, a food drive benefitting Greer Relief. 

 

“The Association is really excited to bring this event back to downtown after a year off,” said Greer Station Association Director Katie Howell. “We are doing everything we can to make this event bigger and better than ever. It’s a great way to bring the community together to celebrate how much we love living here in Greer.”

 

A “People’s Choice” award will be voted on by the public, with the title of “Best Chili in Greer” awarded by a panel of local celebrity judges. First place will also be awarded a grand prize “Greer Staycation” package, which includes a night’s stay at The James House Inn and a $50 gift card to TSC 104. The judging will begin at 6:30 p.m. with awards given out at 7 p.m.
