A new design studio has opened its doors on Trade Street.

Urban Petals, which specializes in floral and event design, is located at 210 Trade St. and now holds regular retail hours Thursday through Saturday.

“We are thrilled with the growth in Greer and have enjoyed joining its downtown community,” said Anna Stouffer, owner of Urban Petals. “After more than six years in business, Urban Petals is eager to expand our services and offerings.

“Now that we’ve added the retail shop, we have hours that are open to the public.”

Stouffer has hired a few new employees to help with events and the business at the storefront.

“It looks like a flower shop from the front,” Stouffer said. “Because we were open by appointment only, I would be out doing site visits and working at another location or setting up events. I wasn’t here."

“It used to look like we were closed often when the complete opposite was true,” she said. “Being open all the time allows people to come in and see what we’re all about and shop with us.”

The store’s hours will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“In October, we’ll expand and be open Tuesday through Saturday,” Stouffer said. “Having the retail shop is a whole other dynamic to the business. We’ll get to interact with people more.”

With its open floor plan, customers will be able to browse Urban Petals’ selection of curated merchandise while observing wedding flowers in production.

“Event florals, specifically wedding flowers, will always have our heart and will continue to remain the central focus of our company,” Stouffer said. “After more than six years in business, we wanted to provide our offerings to more people and are proud to announce the opening of our retail boutique.”

Their curated goods will include items such as home décor, apothecary, textile, tabletop accents, gifts, and plants.

“I love flowers, and I love curated pretty things, but really I love the people I’ve gotten to know through it,” Stouffer said. “That is the most rewarding part, so I imagine getting to know the customers in the retail shop will be as well.”

“My favorite is working with my clients and getting to know them and building that relationship over a few months,” she said. “It’s so rewarding to see all the ideas and plans evolve and then be a part of their wedding day. It makes me really emotional.”

The retail flower cooler will stay stocked with seasonal grab-and-go bouquets designed in a European hand-tied style. An online e-commerce site will launch later this fall at www.urbanpetalsllc.com.
